How to tackle the Reading test?

First of all quickly look through the entire test before startin just to understand what you should do.

  • Try to complete one passage in 20 minutes. If you don't find the answer do not spend more time on one question, guess and move forward since the time is important. ( limit the time to 1 minute per 1 question)
  • Reading module measures your vocabulary and you will be given more synonyms in the passages. Therefore read attentively to find the right answer.
  • Skim the paragraphs to understand what it is about (skim- go or move quickly through tbe lines)
  • Scan the sentences to catch the specific fact you have been asked in the questions. (Scan -reading quickly to find exact detail)
  • Further scanning means go through the each and every single word quickly but just looking for the answer you have been asked in the questions. It doesn't need to understand the meaning of each and every word just enough to find the answer.
  • When answering for WH type questions read the questions carefully so you are aware what to look for. Ex: a number , A place , A name etc.
  • WH type questions are questions starting with what, when, where, who, whom, which, whose, why etc.
